I spent 99 pence on this item. Plus postage. I do not have high expectations. Actually, I have no specific expectations. Do not judge me on this purchase – I needed to complete my pre-Mongoose PARANOIA collection, and this item remained outstanding. Admittedly, I might later choose to disassociate the volume from any link to the word ‘outstanding’.
I will return with comments of some kind. I doubt I can regret a mere 99 pence. The eBay seller should have the book to me in the next few days.
The official PARANOIA Dev Blog posted about Petri Wessman’s blog where you can dig up all manner of PARANOIA book reviews. I’m reasonably sure I’ve mentioned it before – largely because the review of ‘The Underplex‘ came over as entirely reasonable:
This is by no means a “must have” book for Paranoia, but neither is it bad.
I’m not going to argue with that. The blog contains numerous other reviews on all manner of books, games, films and other sundries – so, well worth surveilling.
It was ever so kind of Citizen Shart to point out that Mongoose has hit DriveThruRPG / RPGNow with a very pleasant surprise:
Just thought you’d like to know Mongoose has just reduced price of ALL THEIR PRODUCT DOWNLOADS at RPGNow/ DriveThruRPG by about 40%. This includes PARANOIA and Classic PARANOIA lines (25th Anniversary & XP editions).
According to Mongoose site, this is a PERMANENT price reduction.
So, in the words of a Romulan ambassador, “There will never be a better time.” If you don’t already own them all for real, or didn’t manage to get hold of (almost) everything on DVD when the Limited Edition trilogy came out, now would seem an ideal moment to head over to the store and stock up on those missing gems of recent PARANOIA infotainment.
Just a quick note that the All Current PARANOIA Books link (right) has now been updated to include (almost) all books – in and out of print.
It references the Limited Editions from the 25th Anniversary, purely because you’re unlikely to shop Amazon for those copies! Also, there’s the ‘Citizen’s Guide to Surviving Alpha Complex‘, which might be better sought out through an online auction site (it was free when released… so some clever people have a few on offer for profit… Capitalism rears it’s ugly head, Comrades).
In addition, I have finally got round to updating the RSS link to the PARANOIA Development Blog.
Quick post. Got the new Black Missions version of the PARANOIA Troubleshooter book. A quick scan indicates re-organised, re-fonted, re-formatted, re-illustrated, and reduced in thickness/weight. Essentially, Allen’s XP edition with tweaks… and my name misspelt in the credits. Mongoose have been informed and termination vouchers duly issued.
I’ll post more about the new edition later, after I’ve stopped weeping…
